Alicia Living, Founder and Board Chair
Alicia Living is the author of Hidden Calling, an upcoming memoir detailing her courageous escape from an abusive marriage in Kuwait with her two children. As the founder of the National Alliance of Domestic Violence Survivors (NADVS), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting survivors navigating the long-term impacts of abuse, Alicia is committed to empowering others on their healing journeys.
With a degree in Business focused on Management, Alicia has also served as the Director of Communications at the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Her diverse background includes living in three countries across Southwest Asia and the Middle East and fluency in Arabic.
As an American Muslim and Unitarian Universalist, Alicia uses her voice as an artist, speaker, and advocate to champion the rights of women who have experienced abuse. She envisions a world free from violence, where survivors can overcome isolation, shame, and fear to reclaim their personal and collective power. Alicia’s mission is to create a safe space for all, particularly for women facing gender-based violence, as she identifies with the challenges they endure.
