About Survivor Suppport Circles

Survivor Strength Support Circles are weekly peer-to-peer survivor support groups designed to create a safe space for survivors to connect with and meet other survivors and share their experiences with others who truly understand.

Through empowering circle activities such as journaling, speaking, movement, and art, survivors often feel safe and strong as they journey through healing within a supportive community.

Each circle lasts an hour and a half and follows a trauma-informed format that centers survivors.

A Survivor's Testimonial

The validation from the group and candid style of conversations prompted by our writings and art activities have helped to ground me. This environment over time, has continually soothed and calmed my nervous system; this facilitated the active healing of parts of me that were scared, ignored, rejected, and neglected. I feel I have cleared up a lot of mental and emotional clutter. Prior to support group I was overwhelmed by my shattered life. The inner work I was facing looked dreadful, healing seemed unattainable. Healing was a scary and draining, lonely task. I have confidence now as I gather all the pieces of my broken self. I look forward to a clearer, calmer, future of lessons learned and to be learned.”

Any survivor can start or join a Survivor Strength Support Circle!

You Just Need:

A place to meet that feels safe to survivors who are part of the circle.

At least two survivors who agree to meet weekly.

Willingness to learn the Survivor Strength Support Circle format that has helped survivors feel more connected to themselves and others as they heal and grow!

If you would like us to help get the word out, email info@NADVS.org and we will add your Support Circle to our listing!

Benefits of joining a Support Circle:

Circles provide survivors a way to place their validated pain safely while being able to freely share their voice.

Survivors are encouraged to show up authentically and as their full and whole self, as a survivor, and the many other identities and parts of themselves that they hold and experience.

Survivors can build friendship and community in solidarity with other survivors, removing the barrier of isolation from the experience of abuse. You can safely share about yourself and know others can relate and even feel inspired by you.

We believe survivors deserve acceptance and belonging. Support Circles create a sense of community with others who have shared similar experiences.

Join or start a Survivor Strength Support Circle in your area to connect with other survivors and share in healing, growth, and community.

We are fully launching in mid-October. Learn how to join or start a Survivor Strength Support Circle in your area by emailing us at info@NADVS.org, or fill out the form below and we will contact you with more information!

Support Circles were developed for survivors who have been free from abuse for at least a year, and who need long term supports thereafter. Please note that Survivor Strength Support Circles are for long-term supports after a survivor has gotten to safety and has experienced a year outside of the crisis situation when a survivor will need more advocacy and services to provide needs in areas of legal help, housing, and more. Support Circles are not meant for crisis support and we are not a domestic violence services agency or provider. We recommend a local domestic violence agency in your area if you are currently in or trying to leave an abusive relationship.
Support Circles do not replace individual therapy or counseling.
